Sing Kids Sing!

Spreading the Joy of Music’s Gift for Young Singers

We celebrate the pure joy of children singing.

And recognizing the profound impact music has on their development.

What is more innocently joyful than hearing children singing? At times they sing even when they don’t know they’re singing…and we get to listen in. More glorious yet are groups of children who sing together, with joy on their faces, doing something with others – together! The songs shape their hearts and minds, and provide an important audible outlet that they can share with others through the amazing gift of music.

Raising Voices, Raising Leaders.

Music provides a vehicle for children to be leaders as well. When they sing, the children become the active doers and upfront visible leaders. The stature that is given to children through musical leadership is an important facet to their development as full participants in using their gifts. The emotional benefits are firmly built-in to the process of learning the music and then delivering the end result as a fully-formed song.

Ed Wilmington

Music allows children a mode of artistic expression that can cover a gamut of emotions, from the sadness they feel in the world to the glory of God that they desire to express. In a culture where there is a fair amount of inward emotional focus, music provides a wonderful opportunity to look outward and express things from the inside out. There are great sociological and psychological benefits inherent to the process of making music.

Whole Child Development Through Music

Whole Child Development Through Music

Did you know that there are studies showing that children who participate in musical experiences generally excel in all areas of life?

One study showed that SAT scores were higher than the average for those who made music making a part of their lives. Another study showed that students who were a part of musical groups were also the ones who served their communities in other ways, such as serving meals at shelters. There are many good and healthy reasons for students to join musical activities beyond the joy of making music alone.
